ligand(z)-4-((1H-indol-3-yl) methyleneamino)benzoic acid (IMABA) and its VO(II), Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Ni(II), Cu(II)and Cd(II) complexes were synthesized and characterized by elemental analysis, magnetic, conductance and spectroscopic techniques like UV, IR, 1H NMR and 13C NMR. Analysis established that the Schiff base is acting as monovalent bidentate ligand. Octahedral geometry was shown by Cr(III), Mn(II), Fe(III), Ni(II), Cu(II), and Cd(II) complexes while VO(II) complex displayed square pyramidal geometry. All the complexes and ligand were assayed for their antibacterial activity against gram positive as well as gram negative bacteria. Geometry of all the complexes was found to be octahedral Thermal decomposition kinetics and mechanism of the metal chelates were studied by TGA and DTA techniques. derived from 3-formylindole and 3aminobenzoic acid and it\u2019s Mn(II),Ni(II) and Cu(II) transition metal complexes were synthesized. Structures of the ligand and complexes were derived on the basis of various analytical techniques such as 1H NMR, 13C NMR, infrared, mass, electronic spectroscopy, elemental, magnetic and conductance studies. Structural evaluation established that a 1:1 stoichiometry exists between the metal and ligand and the chelates possess general formula [ML(Ac)(H2O)3]. Geometry of all the complexes was found to be octahedral. Thermal decomposition kinetics and mechanism of the metal chelates were studied by TG and DTA techniques. The TG curve of all chelates showed a two stage decomposition pattern in the TG trace which is supported by DTA data. Raphael, K.S.Shaju 3-Formylindole-4-aminobenzoic Acid: A Potential Corrosion Inhibitor for Mild Steel and Copper in Hyd \u00a0 Abstract: The corrosion inhibition efficiencies of Schiff base 3-formylindole-4-aminobenzoic acid (3FI4ABA) on mild steel (MS) and copper in 1.0M HCl solution have been investigated using weight loss measurements, electrochemical impedance spectroscopy (EIS) and potentiodynamic polarization studies. The results show that inhibition efficiencies on both metals increase with increasing the concentration of the inhibitor. 3FI4ABA exhibited comparatively good inhibition towards mild steel in HCl medium even at low concentrations. The adsorption of inhibitor on the surfaces of the corroding metal mild steel and copper obeys the Langmuir isotherm. Polarization studies revealed that 3FI4ABA acts as a mixed-type inhibitor.
